This list was originally posted in Lifehack with the title “30 Things You Need to Try at Least Once While You’re in Your 20s”. And yes, I agree, there are many things to do before you hit your 30s! BUT: there is no excuse not to do some of this things later on in life, so I did a check where I am personally (in italic) and you can check it for yourself. Here we go:
1. Travel alone.
Business travel is not really travel. Take some days or weeks and do travel alone – without purpose, without goal. I did it 2011, and this trip was a great experience and absolutely unforgettable. If interested, you can have a look on my blog articles from that trip.
2. Travel the world.
Currently 38 countries on my “been there” list. About 100 remaining ;-)
3. Connect with your family.
As often as you can. No excuse!
4. Determine your passion.
And if you feel, you lost it, re-start and determine it again!
5. Determine your life goals.
They may change. Repeat.
6. Get rid of that debt.
No comment. Just do it!
7. Learn a new language.
Four or five languages are very helpful to meet other people and to travel.
8. Join a team.
Sports. Fun. Business. Coach surfer. Meetup. Local one. There are so many possibilities!
9. Spend time with friends.
Do it. Enjoy.
10. Find your own home.
It might be home. It might be hammock.
11. Visit the Grand Canyon.
On my bucket list.
12. Go on a road trip with friends.
Done 2013. Visited ex-Yugoslavia. Proud I did!
13. Do something crazy.
On my daily list. It is fun!
14. Train for a marathon.
Uff. Not on my bucket list. Shall I?
15. Take a cooking class.
Great experience! Now I know why Creme brûlée it that expensive in a restaurant!
16. Volunteer.
Yepp. Try it out.
17. Dedicate one full day to doing nice things for strangers.
Mhh. Have no plan yet.
18. Go offline for one week.
Did it many times and love it!
19. Go camping.
If you never did, you MUST do it. Wake up with birds, bath in a cold fresh lake, smell the forest…
20. Attend an awesome event.
Awesome! Pushes me every time I do. This year: Bahamas Speed Week Revival.
21. Go to Las Vegas.
Done, even with small kids.
22. Learn how to play golf.
Same as marathon for me.
23. Point your finger at a map and go there.
Sounds good, will add this to my bucket list.
24. Cook something new every single day for 30 days.
I do a lot of new things every single day. Cooking? OK. Will start today!
25. Say “Yes” to everything for a certain length of time.
This is an exercise from the “4-hours-week” book. Did it. It’s fun!
26. Scuba dive.
On my bucket list.
27. Win an award.
OK. Any ideas what I could do here?
28. Make friends with your neighbors.
Done.
29. Learn a new dance.
Tango argentino.
30. Write a letter to yourself.
Great idea, will put it on my to do list for this week.
This was my check on this list. How about you?
